Ironjack's first ride!

So this year i've finally decided to participate in my first bike ride. I spent a good amount of time training, and picked a course that is easily attainable. The Ride for the Roses ala Lance Armstrong Foundation, seemed like a good choice and a relavent purpose for me to ride for. My ride is dedicated to all my friends and family that have had battles with cancer, but specifically for my friends and family that have passed this year. So to my Aunt Li-Ling Chen and my good friend Candi Hayes, this ride was for you. Below are the pictures leading up to and thru the ride. I had plans of making blueberry pancakes (only I would tailgate and make food at a bike ride). Unfortunately, the grill blew the fuses in the outlets to my car so that was a bust. (I made pancakes for the folks at work the next day.) The ride itself was wonderful. I learned the wonders of powergoo and the powers of drafting behind people to get you to the finish line. (thanks Dale). We only went 40 miles, but it turned out to be a good amount of miles considering the hills and the headwinds. My training didn't include as many of those obstacles, so I was dragging a bit to get over the finishline. It was loads of fun and i'm so very glad I did it. I'm now inspired to try to participate in the AIDs ride from SF to LA.
